Well last night was officially ‘pirate night’ in Sheffield for my good friend Simon’s birthday, but not just any birthday it was the big 21! So for a bit of a change everyone was out in fancy dress, the theme being pirate. Do you know why pirates are called pirates? … Because they Arrrrr!
How hard is it to dress as a pirate? Its surprisingly easy! Most fancy dress shows will sell fake stick on beards and moustaches, obviously choosing the right one for you is essential but your looking at a few quid max. Then there’s the hat, or bandana if you want that route, again easily acquirable from a fancy dress show for a few pound. For the top, well I went to the local charity shop and bought a white shirt of £1.50 but the arms off a bit, put a few cuts into it, spilt some tomato sauce down the front and got it a bit dirty. Some of these things were intentional, some just happened but it all added to the effect and it looked amazing! Eye liner is also a nice touch and adds the Johnny Depp feel. However its the day after, I’ve had a bath and I cant get it off.

Above are a few thirsty pirates drinking grog paid for with pieces of eight around a table. Interesting little fact for you, your not allowed to wear eye patches in Weatherspoons. Im in the inset picture on the left wearing my white shirt and captain ash in the bandana.
To explain the full night would take too long, and in all honesty nobody remembers it all but we visited a few places around Sheffield, shouted Yarg! at a lot of people, had fun with a blow up parot and used just about every pirate phrase that would could think of.
All in all a very good night! So cowboy night has been done, pirate night has been done, what next?
