Well it’s been a while since I got out of the office, my first work trip of 2007 actually and it was last Thursday down in London. All in all good fun, lots of new people turning up at these as well as the regulars which always makes for a good mix.
The real value with these I think is not talking shop. I work day in day out talking over MSN about datafeeds, XML, deeplinks, tracking, destinations, special rates, offers, deals STOP! So when you finally get to meet up with them its nice to just kick back, have a few drinks, get to know them and check out the competition.
Obviously with people who you’ve not met before, and don’t currently work with this isn’t appropriate so you do have to talk work, but it’s a good chance to see what sort of an impression you can leave. At these events there are a lot of merchants handing out leaflets, toys, business cards, sponsoring exhibition stands and much more! So how to leave an impression? Make sense, be polite and know what your talking about – simple really. As an affiliate manager there’s only so far I can go with telling people the best ways to promote a company, if an affiliate wants to take on the challenge then they will. You cant force them!
Anyway, main reason for this post is to get the photos off my phone, so below a few photos taken on the night!
