Well the due in date for my RFP is up and I’ve got my network replies. A lot of the response was fairly standard, but then again a lot of my request was fairly standard. I know most of the networks fairly well so know that they can track sales, know how they work and know that they can track different products at different commission levels.
As I say I know all this, but if you were completely knew to affiliate marketing you might not have a clue so finding out what is possible can trigger new ideas on how you can reward affiliates. For example the new site we’re launching is a tour operator, and we want to sell holidays (flight, hotel, insurance, transfer & car hire) so we’re going to offer an extra bonus on top of the commission for each element for making a package sale.
Anyway I now have my list of networks that seem interested so what next? Talk to them! After two weeks off I’ve been fairly busy today but got time to send a few emails with questions I had about the replies so hopefully Ill get those back over this week and get things moving,
In the background I’ve been talking to a few of the affiliates we currently work with, and other affiliates who we don’t work with at the moment but have traffic that will work with our new site to get an idea of the market, what affiliates in this market expect and to make sure we meet those expectations and blow them out of the water.
I’ve had a creative suite specification put together and sent to our design agency to get some nice creative put together so we can launch with a full banner set.
I’ve spoke with Claire at Affiliates4U about getting some advertising on the forum which we’ve agreed on to get some mass exposure on launch.
What next? Technical implementation and testing! Fun!
