Well over Easter (about a week ago) I ordered an external hard drive as it would appear music, films and other general crap have ground the PC and laptop to a halt.
Now to be honest it all felt really easy, the website was fine to use, found what I wanted and as I wasn’t a customer I had to set up a new account but that wasn’t too hard. Its when it comes to the delivery bit that I actually look for stores that give the option of a different delivery address to billing address, im at work all day and I cant guarantee if someone will be in.
So Maplin offer this – great! Fill in an alternative delivery address, confirm, and we’re done. Great ill have that sometime next week.
Wrong. I got a call last Wednesday from them saying that, because id chosen an alternative delivery address they needed to confirm I was who I said I was and the only way they could do this was to send a letter to my billing address with a reference number in it, I would then have to call them and confirm I had received this and it was okay to ship the order.
Order is now starting to feel like hard work. See things like this wouldn’t annoy me if everyone did it, if it was standard that an order not going to the billing address needed to be checked id be less annoyed because id have know that from the start. But when I ordered my iphone a couple of weeks ago I rang O2 one evening and paid them, the phone was delivered to my work address the day after.
Anyway, best go call them and get this order sorted
