For those following the a4uAwards to be held on June 5th in London, I’ve been short listed! Was going to post this last week but with all the good weather I was overcome with an urge to take a day off, get out the tent and stroll off into the wilderness.
Anyway, back to the point (feeling slightly delusional after getting a lot of sun over this weekend).
The shortlists can be found at the a4uAwards site and the category I’ve been nominated for is Affiliate Manager of 2008 and boy am I in good company! From the ones I know and have talked to, id describe every one of the below as affiliate managers plus, I don’t think any one of them wouldn’t help someone because its after 5.30, not one of them just do the job, and every one of them know online marketing inside out, because affiliate marketing can be anything – content, comparison, cashback, paid search, email marketing and more!
I don’t know all these as well as Id like to but here they are…
Chris Bishop (Hotel Chocolat now House of Fraser)
Never met him, no doubt I will in June! Always seems active on affiliate forums but cant say I’ve ever worked with him as I’ve never pushed Hotel Chocolat (although I have bought an easter egg from them) and never pushed House of Fraser.
Chris Clarkson (Sunshine.co.uk)
Now, a guy ive had a lot more dealings with! Been shorlisted for a national industry award after only holding the job for what – 3 months? Must be doing it right! All round great guy, did great things with Holiday Watchdog and now really putting the effort into their new venture.
Daniel Morley (Alpha Rooms)
Me, from affiliate to affiliate manager 2 years and 3 months ago and loving every minute of it.
Graham Keen (Buy a Gift)
Always active on affiliate forums and very active. Presented a session at last years Expo and never heard a bad word mentioned about him.
Jasper Van Der Bliek (Jackpot Joy)
Never met, and rarely seen – which I like. I think travel and gambling are similar in the fact that there are few affiliate in the sector because of how competitive it is. Most affiliates will deal with retail affiliate manager because most people have some sort of retail site, but I think its fantastic that Jackpot Joy’s affiliates have voted Jasper in.
Zak Edwards (Prezzy Box)
Have met, a few times, and just a general down to earth nice guy. Very popular guy in affiliate marketing and the driving force of Prezzy Box and Apollo, again always active and pushing affiliates to get involved.
Firstly id like to thank all affiliates that voted for me, it’s a real honour to get listed with these guys, all of which have been in the industry a long time (although with a lot of young newcomers im starting to feel fairly old as well!). I couldn’t be a half decent affiliate manager without having a programme I believed in and affiliates that make it a pleasure to manage – big heart felt thanks.
So, the big question – who will take it?
No idea
